If you’re a person living with a physical or cognitive disability, illness, or condition that affects the way you move (or don’t move!) your body and live your day to day life - yes, absolutely!
Climbers in the adaptive community include amputees, wheelchair users, people with visual and hearing impairments, people with multiple schlerosis, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, cerebral palsy, and more.

Nope! Strength is not required to get in to climbing, though it will definitely build, the more you climb with us!
-
R.A.A.C is able to offer financial assistance towards the cost of gear or a gym membership - please contact us!
-
Partially! For the first hour of our climb, we have a room reserved for our group that is closed to the public and gym members, and participants can stay in there if they prefer privacy, or climb in the rest of the gym if they choose.
For the second hour of the climb, Rise Above has the gym completely to ourselves!
-
Of course! Our host gym, The Junction Climbing Centre, is open to the public. Please see their website for their hours.
Please keep in mind that Junction staff do not have the same experience that our volunteers have in regards to working with the adaptive community, and there are often not extra staff on hand for climbers who need extra assistance.
If you are unable to make it out to RAAC nights, but would still like to climb with Junction staff assistance, the gym offers guided climbs. Email Junction for a quote for a private booking.

Amazing! R.A.A.C has a few members who would be happy to talk to you about how to get involved with competitive paraclimbing. Contact us, and we can find a time to chat!
